Kelsey Ramsey - The Truth

Kelsey is one of the students doing her concentration using the media of photography. She is focusing on transcendentalism. What's that? Look it up. Okay, here is how Kelsey describes it... it's about the philosophy of communing with nature to find your divine soul. Odd fact about Kelsey....she loves Eggo waffles. Not the wheat ones, just homestyle or buttermilk.

What do you think about her work so far? Which of the Amelia photos do you think are more successful and why?

  1. I feel like maybe the top Amelia photo is more successful. On the bottom one, the reflection cutting across her nose is a bit distracting and nearly dead center, so my eye doesn't really want to move to about the photo much. I love the way the reflections on the top one look like they're giving Amelia a hug....

  2. I think the two of her in the cornfield are the most successful. The one in the library I had the same issue with, the texture distracts you and keeps your eye stuck in the center of the photo. And the one of the mailboxes has nice lighting, but it's too in the middle.

  3. hey these turned out really well! I like the smoking one on the right.. how did you make it look all collagey? And I agree with the others.. I like the one on the top better because the lighting looks really nice -- amelia

  4. i love the smoking one! i love the distorted proportions and the sense of depth.
i agree with amy that the shadow across amelia's nose in the bottom cornfield picture is a little distracting. but i love the top one.
overall, i think its going really well! i love how unique your concentration is.

  5. i like the mailbox picture, because its an object that you see practically everyday, but it is shown from a different angle (lets you see it from a different perspective). I like the top photo of Amelia better, because the shadows kind of frame her face since thats the main focal point.

  6. I also like the top one the best because I think it connects really nicely to Kelsey's concentration...the way Amelia's looking down makes me think she's looking inwardly--it's more reflective

  7. Kels! I love your work lady! Well I would have to say that according to the elements and principles of art, the bottom one is better of Amelia because it has great color, contrast, texture, and spacing. but, I love both of them! There both beautiful!

  9. Wow! These pictures are awesome. I'm not sure which one of Amelia I like better, though. They both have a lot of emotion in them.

  10. Kelsey, your photos are amazing! Good work girlie! As far as the photos of Amelia go, I think the one on the top is more successful. I think the leaf and the shadow both go in one direction, drawing your eye to the edge of the paper and not as much to Amelia's face. Awesome work Kelsey!

  14. These are fantstic. I love how she's not afraid to push the contrast, it looks awesome. The compositions look well thought out. In the smoking one and Amelia looking off its gives a sense of story to the photo. Way to go!
