It's your turn
For the last three months I have been blogging about everything from inspiring artists, mind games, unicorns and photography club. Now it's your turn. Your blog comment for this week is to find something art related to blog about.
It could be an artists that inspires you, something related to your concentration, an interesting article about the arts, a museum that you like and why, or other blogs or websites that you find interesting (art related)
Make a comment just like you would before except you will write a little about what you found and provide the link.
What is interesting to you?

I love volunteering at CHAP (Childrens Healing Art Project), and their space and the work done by the kids always inspires me. This is the main website where you can see rugs and shirts designed by kids and just other pictures and fun things..

Alrighty, people. I know you'll think i'm a total freak for falling in love with the images on this website, but I can't help it! The unsettling feelings that the imagery provokes is something that I adore! I don't think that good art is art that a stranger glances at and moves on to another piece, but instead causes a reaction and a fascination that pushes the viewer to look closer and question the artist's inspirations and motives. This is exactly what each of these pieces does for me!

Let me know what you think!
I found this artist: Jane Levy Campbell. She has some very beautiful still life paintings. Her work reminded me a little bit of Julia's concentration, especially her bowl of cherries.

This is an artist named Andreas Kocks. She does all kinds of art but I really love her paperwork. She makes these HUGE installations of cut-out paper. They are beautiful! But I'm sure they would be even more amazing in person. Someday I would like to try something like this...

Whoaaaa....Kelly those are really creepy but also super well done. They remind me a LOT of Haley's concentration.
ReplyDeleteFor me...it's funny because Ms. McBride posted one of his images, but I LOVE Gustav Klimt. He does a lot of really awesome portraiture incorporating pattern, and I like looking to his work for ideas.

I was at OSU on Friday and was really excited when I came across an installation by an artist named Patrick Dougherty, who does huge sculptures made out of sticks. According to his website, he's built like 200 of them around the world. Every one I've seen I've fallen in love with. OSU is so lucky. Here's his website: http://www.stickwork.net/news.php
ReplyDeleteWhen I was looking at the photos that you put with this blog, I liked the first one of the yellow human sculpture. And it reminded me of when I went to lego land when I was little :)what they build there is sooo cool...this link is about a guy who used to be an architect, but now constructs models of famous building with legos!

When I started to figure out my concentration i found Andrea Benson's work and loooooved it! her stuff is so beautiful and simple and very elegant. I love the colors she uses and the texture and imagery.
ReplyDeleteShe uses encaustic for her pieces, which makes me very excited to be privileged to get the encaustic demo sometime soon :)
She has been my backbone inspiration to my concentration

About a year ago, I found a photography book in the art room called workbook stock photography and it had a website linked to it. I have really fallen in love with visiting that sight. It has hundreds of photography and illustration portfolios from professional artists (I believe it is meant to showcase work to prospective employers). The pictures are really amazing and entertaining to look at, and they give me a good idea of what good photography looks like.

Amy, I saw that too! I was there about a month or so ago and saw it when they were in the middle of building it. I was on their site a couple of days ago, and saw they had posted an article about it.

Pretty interesting!

I've been seeing this guy's work floating around the internet for a while and I'm still completely stunned by it. His name is Peter Fecteau and he made a portrait of MLK using only rubix cubes. It's sort of mind blowing to try and understand how well you'd have to understand all the spacing for this, and how the cubes would have to be arranged.

I'm really inspired by and i have always really liked Salvador Dali. This artist work doesn't really relate to my concentration but his work is very cool. I started really liking him last year when i learned more about him and his art when doing a project in 3/4. I feel like his art really makes you think and i like that.

Sometimes in the hallway we see kids in the hallway with big sneakers that are plastered with little doodles or drawings. A lot of the time, they are visually appealing to the eye. I went to this site which had a handful of cool examples of what can be done with a simple sneaker; though most of these seem to be part of a new line of shoes. Both Puma and Adidas have experimented with this stuff.

ReplyDeleteBanksy I think is really interesting! I love grafitti and I love how simple but so intriguing they are. My mom was sitting a few feet back and thought they were real people haha. I always want to see one in real life.
Although recently deceased, Alexander McQueen is still a huge inspiration to me. I love his fashion especially what he does with feathers. For those of you who don't know who he is, look at Lady Gaga's bulbous shoes and you will most likely find yourself looking at a McQueen creation.

ReplyDeletewoops accidentally deleted the last one.. anyway i saw this a while ago about this 80 year old woman who survived the holocaust and made art out of her memories. the paintings are sort of abstract but have a lot of meaning behind them. theres even a story behind every painting.. i really like the whole idea of art telling stories of things that happened in the past:

I randomly found this artist from Spain on a printmaking site. I am extremely jealous of print makers because of their precise and neat artwork (something I can NEVER do)

AMY! I saw one of his sculptures in colorado Springs. Loved it! We had to draw it on our first day. I'll show you the sketch sometime, here's a photo of it: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-y583qcc0RY0/To2ZBG4mGxI/AAAAAAAAAOQ/X__VNKyVK6s/s1600/Set01.jpg
ReplyDeleteSo Mrs. McBride, I was telling you about that artist I saw at Graeter Art Gallery, The one that painted the big portrait of a little boy that was in a fight. Here's a link http://graeterartgallery.com/otherIndex.php?otherContent=artistsGallery.php&artistId=11&title=Graeter%20Art%20Gallery%20-%20William%20Chad%C2%A0Willsie#5 The pieces on display when I went there were the one with the robot, the one of the smoking clown child, and the one of the beat up tattooed boy. The last one, of the boy, was really interesting and thought provocative. And it related to my concentration kind of, which was cool.
Oh and that was Colleen by the way
ReplyDeleteOkay, so the other day I was skyping with my sister, Abby, and she showed me this really, really cool website that shows what alcohol looks like magnified like a zillion times. Its amazing. It would make a beautiful art concentration. I think its incredible that you can magnify something ordinary and you see these amazing shapes, colors, and compostions. It blew my mind! Here is a link to look at them. Its called alcoholic art, which is really cool!! Im really really into these!

I love Leslie Waynes art work mostly because its something I could never do. The colors are so vibrant and the shapes and medias she uses are so interesting. I wish I could do art like this because I think it's amazing!

This artist, Maria Arango is a print maker. She set a goal for herself to do 1,000 woodcut prints. Sounds crazy. She has all of the ones she has done on her sight below and they are awesome. This was great inspiration for my concentration, and I am glad I found her!!

Edward Scissor hands, nightmare before Christmas, Beetle Juice...Tim Burtons know mainly for directing movies. But his art pieces are amazing! I like how he distorts reality and makes things darker than they truly are.

ReplyDeleteThis artist has truly amazing artwork that helped me explore the different uses of contrast and usage of many different colors. even though my art is fairly different than his, but inspired me to go beyond the boundaries of my concentration and not just draw or paint the picture as it is, but draw/paint it as i see it. and he was born in Oregon!!
